How to Fix a KitchenAid Mixer Leaking Oil

My mom called me up and said her KitchenAid mixer was leaking oil. My first thought was that my mom has finally lost it. Certainly there wasn’t oil in a mixer such as this. Then, I remembered my mom makes me cookies. I don’t mess around when it comes to cookies. Let’s get this thing fixed.

Turns out this is a common problem with older mixers in general. There are copious amounts of grease in the gear box, and over time that grease separates and the oil leaks out.

In order to replace the grease, you just need to follow a few steps to take the machine apart. Then it’s as simple as removing the old grease and putting the new grease in.

I decided to go with the legit KitchenAid mixer grease from Amazon. There are a few others out there, but I figured that such an expensive machine deserves the legit grease.
